Guelph now has an influenza assessment, treatment and referral centre to give the public easier access to flu services and to reduce pressure on hospital emergency rooms and doctors' offices. The Flu Assessment Centre allows people with influenza symptoms to get medical advice on whether they should go home and rest, see their doctor or go to an Emergency Room. Flu shots are NOT given out at these clinics - only assessment of flu symptoms. Here are some guidelines to consider: - If you have flu symptoms, but think you feel well enough to care for yourself at home, please do so. You may also call Telehealth for advice - 1-866-797-0000.
- You do not need a doctor's referral to attend the H1N1 Flu Assessment Centre.
- If you are having difficulty breathing, are feeling delirious, or otherwise feel you are at high risk, please go to your local Emergency Department. If you have flu symptoms, but are not in the high risk groups and think you need medical attention, please visit your H1N1 Assessment Centre.
