Travel Clinic Appointments & Location

WDG Public Health Travel Clinic offers:

  • Professional travel advice from public health nurses trained in travel medicine
  • Travel vaccines (including yellow fever vaccine).
  • An official travel health record of immunization (Travel Immunization Records Books are available only to people who have been assessed at the Travel Clinic)
  • Information on and prescriptions about anti-malarial medications with the following exceptions:
    • Prescriptions will not be given to children under 16 years of age, as they must be assessed and weighed by a physician for correct dosing
    • Prescriptions may not be given to adults with severe medical conditions and/or taking several medications, as they should be assessed by a physician for possible drug interactions

Appointment length varies depending on destination(s) and number of people traveling. It is best to book an appointment at least six to eight weeks before your departure date. Clinics tend to fill up quickly especially during heavy travel season.

Public health nurses require clients to wait 15 to 30 minutes after a vaccination in order to monitor for possible allergic reactions.

What to bring with you:

  • Your immunization records.
  • A list of any medications you are taking.
  • Pharmacy name and phone number (if requesting malaria prescription)

Fees
There is an initial consultation fee in addition to the cost of the vaccines.

Consultation fees vary depending on the number of travellers in your party, and your destination. When booking an appointment, our staff will determine the fee based on your individual needs.

Vaccine fees are to be paid as doses are received (see vaccine list for more information).

Payment
Payment can be made by cash, debit, VISA or Mastercard. Official receipts provided.  We do not provide third-party billing to insurance companies.
