How much sugar would you consume if you drank one 591 ml bottle of pop each day for one month?

The answer might surprise you. If you drank just that one bottle of pop each day for a month, you would consume an extra 2kg of sugar.

Here are some other suggestions on how you can make better drink choices and Re-Think Your Drink.

A healthy mouth is an important part of overall good health.  Our teeth play a key role in our appearance and well-being. A healthy set of teeth allows us to smile, chew food and speak clearly.

The keys to good dental health are:

  • Regular brushing and flossing
  • Regular dental check-ups
  • A good diet

Research shows a link between gum disease (periodontal disease) and other health conditions including:

  • Heart disease and stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Pneumonia and other respiratory disease
  • Premature and low birth weight babies

 SERVICES

Dental services -- WDG Public Health dental health professionals provide a variety of dental services to children up to and including 17 years of age. We also have resources for adults but do not offer direct services.

Financial assistance -- CINOT (Children in Need of Treatment) provides financial assistance to cover the cost of urgent dental care for children ages 0-17 in low-income families.

Preventive program -- The program services children in the community who:

  • do not have dental insurance coverage, are not OW/ODSP recipients, and the cost of dental treatment would result in financial hardship.
  • do not qualify for services under the CINOT program.
